Using plugins is one way in getting more done in less time.

This post focuses on the most essential Sketch plugins, where and how you can get them and how to make the most of them. If your are not familiar with professional digital interface design with Sketch, you should definitely give it a try and see how it works. You can also download the free trial to explore the plugins mentioned below.

1. Sketch Mobile Assets Plugin: This plugin will automatically generate iOS and Android assets created at mdpi/hdpi/xhdpi/xxhdpi and xxxhdpi for Android and @1x/@2x/@3x for iOS. Assets are also named and organized according to platform conventions of iOS and Android. Definitely my favorite Sketch plugin re-written and optimized by my highly valued and talented friend Mathias Tim Maier. There is no better mobile assets plugin out there.

2. Sketch Content Generator: Talking ’bout automation: Working in Sketch with large sets of content, elements and the like is not just time consuming, it also blocks you from visualizing an idea in a fast and efficient way. The Sketch Content Generator plugin allows you to quickly create dummy data such as avatars, names, geo location data and many more.

3. Sketch Measure Plugin: Gone are the days where creating style guides was a boring part of your job routine. The Sketch Measure Plugin lets you generate style guides in a couple of minutes. Just select an element and generate your properties on the fly making it fun to create them all for developers and teammates.

4. Sketch Pixel Perfecter Plugin: Being perfectly human means accepting human imperfections. As passionate designers we have a strange relationship with the need to be perfect. With the fear washed away, the Sketch Pixel Perfecter is a plugin that helps you find pixel imperfect layers in your documents.

5. Marketch: I do code from time to time (such as this website) and I love to retrieve CSS styles from my Sketch designs. The Sketch Marketch plugin allows you to export your Sketch dashboards as HTML documents including all CSS declarations alike.

Off topic: Bonus Plugin

6. OctoLinker Browser Extension: The OctoLinker Browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Opera allows you to navigate through projects on GitHub.com efficiently. Due to the fact that most projects such as websites or apps consist of many files and third party dependencies that are most likely declared in a file, it is mostly impossible to navigate between those files and projects on GitHub.com. This is where OctoLinker comes into came: The OctoLinker browser extension makes these references clickable. Therefore, no more copy and search. A great asset for front end devs by my valued friend Stefan Buck.
